FCIP is an encapsulation protocol for transporting Fibre Channel frames over IP links.
FCIP differs from iFCP in that no interception or emulation of fabric services is involved. One or more TCP connections are bound to an FCIP Link, which is used to realize Inter-Switch Links (ISLs) between pairs of Fibre Channel entities.
FCIP does not have a native, inband security mechanism. Rather, it relies upon the IPsec protocol suite to provide data confidentiality and authentication services, and IKE as the key management protocol. FCIP uses TCP to provide congestion control, error detection and error recovery.

FC End Node.
An FC device that uses the connection services provided by the FC Fabric.
FC Fabric.
An entity that interconnects various Nx_Ports attached to it, and is capable of routing FC Frames using only the destination
ID information in an FC Frame header.
FCIP Entity.
The principle FCIP interface point to the IP network.
FCIP Entity Name.
The world wide name of the switch if the FCIP Entity resides in a switch or the world wide node name of the associated Nx_Port.
FCIP Discovery Domain.
Specifies which FCIP Entities are allowed to discover each other within the bounds of the scope.
