Small Service Corporation Members

Privileges of Membership

The Small Service Membership provides the GateD source and binaries to a small company who are using GateD to provide Internet Services. Binaries can be distributed to any of the Service provides machines for a year. The privileges of the Small Service Membership are for the tools, sources, and binaries related to one of the GateD Product lines:

GateD Unicast (version 4)

The Privileges are:

Technical

Unlimited distribution of binaries in the machines which the member uses to provide Internet services for a 1 year duration of the membership.

Source code distributed to development teams at Member's corporation or research site.
(Source code access is for the 1 year duration of the membership. Source code may not be
distributed in commercial service products which are sold to clients. Binaries and Tools may be distributed to all machines providing Internet services.)

Access to GateD Member-only Documentation and Tools.

Early access to new source code, tools and documentation prior to a general release to
Academic and Research Members for a period agreed upon by Consortium Members but not
less than three weeks.

Email response to technical questions.

Consortium

Regular communications including paper releases and electronic communications as appropriate. Such communications shall detail GateD Project and Consortium developments and progress.

1 Voting Member may attend GateD Consortium Meetings.

Invitation to attend periodic Technical Briefings and Progress Review, Small Service Members shall have the following privileges:

(i) input to GateD software development and deployment discussions,
(ii) access at prescheduled times of mutual convenience to members of the GateD Project Development Team

The right to request a yearly summary of Consortium expenditures and financial plans.

Participation in E-mail forum to discuss new GateD tools and features.

Mention on the Merit GateD Web Pages for Products and Services.

GateD t-shirts.

Cost of Small Service Membership

Small Service membership costs:

$12,000 for the 1st year
$10,000 for the 2nd through 15th year of membership

The lower fees in the 2nd through 15th of membership are available as long a the GateD membership continues. If a company discontinues membership for a product line for a year, the membership fee starts out at $15,000 for the first year.

These cost can be viewed as initial payment for the rights to use and distribute binaries. The memberships in the 2nd through 15th years is a yearly maintenance fee to keep the code current with Internet standards.

After the GateD Consortium reaches 15 years of age, the fees for a product may be re-examined. Any members wishing the product will be continued, but fees may be reduced after 15 years.

Corporate Profile

The Small Service Membership is available to companies who:
have any annual revenue of less than $900,000,
have less 100 employees, and
are engaged in using GateD to provide Commercial Internet services.
