New Membership Categories
Gold Members
Privileges of Membership
The privileges of Gold Membership for 1997 are for the tools,
sources, and binaries related to two of the following GateD Product Lines:
- GateD Unicast (version
4)
- GateD Multicast
(version 5)
- GateD IPv6 (version
6)

Companies may request Membership and Redistribution licenses in two
forms.)
A Gold Member will have Gold Member benefits
for
Two (2) Product Lines of their choice.
The Privileges are:
Technical Privileges
- a) Unlimited distribution of binaries in commercial products for Two
(2) Versions of GateD for the duration of the membership. Membership
term is 1 year and can be renewed at any time
- b) Source code for Two (2) Versions of GateD distributed to
development teams at Member's corporation or research site. Source code
may not be distributed in commercial products.
- c) Access to GateD Member-only Documentation and Tools.
- d) Early access to new source code, tools and documentation prior to
a general release to Academic and Research members for a period agreed
upon by Consortium members but not less than three weeks.
- e) Email response to technical questions of up to 50 messages per week.
- f)Two Interns trained at Merit at prescheduled times of mutual convenience
to the members of the GateD Project Development Team. Internship training
not to exceed three (3) months.
- g) Response to phone queries of up to 2 hours per week or 10 hours
per month.
- h) Additional 1 week of training at Merit at prescheduled times of
mutual convenience to the members of the GateD Project Development Team,
Business Privileges
- i) Regular communications including paper releases and electronic communications
as appropriate. Such communications shall detail GateD Project and Consortium
developments and progress.
- j) 4 Voting Members may attend periodic GateD Consortium Meetings
- k) Invitation to attend periodic Technical Briefings and Progress Review.
At these meetings Gold Members shall have the following privileges:
- input to GateD software development and deployment discussions,
- access at prescheduled times of mutual convenience to members of the
GateD Project Development Team.
- l) Members have the right to request a yearly summary of the Consortium
expenditures and financial plans.
- m) Mention on the Merit GateD Web Pages for Products and Services.
- n) Gold Member GateD t-shirts.
Cost of Gold Membership
Gold membership fees are:
$110,000 for new members.
$75,000 for existing members with one (1) current product line and
one (1) renewal.
$45,000 for existing members with two (2) product lines and
two (2) renewals.
New Gold GateD Members can now get Two (2) Product Lines with all the
additional benefits that existing Gold Members have for just $110,000.

Existing Gold GateD members who currently have One (1) product line
can now renew their membership and get a 2nd product line with many additional
benefits for just $75,000. This means that Gold Members can now choose
Two (2) Versions of GateD, with unlimited distributions of binaries,
plus numerous other benefits.
